Love your Location

 

Sometimes I complain about where we live.

The shouting man across the road makes it very easy to do.

However…

Sometimes, I need to shut up.

 

You see we actually live in a lovely place, with lovely people, and lovely happenings and AWESOME events!

Tomorrow is the last day of the ‘All Hands on Deck’ project on Bramley canal. There have been art led narrow boat trips all week as well as other fun happenings. However tomorrow is the highlight. Tomorrow is the World’s First* Wind Up Bath Toy championships. Yes, you read that right.

Tomorrow at Newlay, opposite the Abbey Inn at 12pm & 3pm there will be a race like no other. If you have an unloved, under used, wind up bath toy waiting for his (or her) moment of glory then take it to the canal and set it free! If you don’t, Asda have some good options, so there is no excuse not to get involved!

You can hail the barge tomorrow on the canal, it’s a water taxi for the day! Erm, yes! Or if you can’t get there there’s a horse drawn ride from Bramley Shopping centre. For FRRREEEEEEE!! Hard times, easy on the pocket

As part of the event, on Thursday morning we were invited by the lovely Fran Graham to hop aboard an art led narrow boat.

When it was time to go, Holly looked like this.

 

Great.

We woke the sleeping baby. Which meant we had a fussy, crying canal boat companion.

With a bit of careful parent juggling we coped.

It was a lovely experience. I think Holly is still a little young for these things, but I’m not too old. So when we were asked to do some drawing I grabbed a pen and paper. I even dipped my watercolours in the water so it went all runny. Which all the kids then wanted to do. Oops, bad influence. I produced a nice little thing, see below. Don’t judge too harshly

I guess the point of this post is:

a) Sometimes it’s easy to be judgemental and not appreciate the good things.

b) Tomorrow I expect to see you all at the Canal with a bath toy, even if you live in London. Points for effort.

c) I refuse to post a picture of my bath toy because I’m far too competitive and want to win.

d) Don’t wake the sleeping baby.

 

For any of you that fancy some free rock climbing tomorrow there is the Leeds Wall ‘Leeds Climbing Festival’ from 10 – 5.

Also, the Roving Inflatable cinema is next weekend with a chance to see ‘Woman in Black’ or ‘The Artist’ for free in the open air. Awesome.
