8. Your Patience Will Be Tested

I always thought I was a really patient person until Holly came along. But I’ve realised…

I wasn’t.

I have never had my patience tested so much before.

Patience with Holly, and patience with myself and Tom.

Parenting is hard.

It’s hard putting someone else as number 1. Learning that your needs come second, or third, or fourth, or tenth depending on your family circumstances.

It’s hard when someone else is crying to focus and think about what on earth your going to do next.

It’s hard that you’ll always want your life to be more organised and your family to always be on time. You have to accept it’s not always going to happen.

It’s hard not to snap when you’re tired, you’re trying to think and you just want everything to go perfectly to plan for once.

It’s hard.

Hard to learn patience because at one point or another your patience will be tested, and I’ve had to learn to deal with that.

The secret to being a patient parent.

I’m going to tell you…

Honestly. It really helps.

Lesson learned? Your Patience WILL be tested.

Very true. And great advice. I think I’m a better mummy all round when I’ve had a decent nights sleep.
I think the person I am most impatient with is my husband. Sometimes I just don’t get why he can’t think more like me, especially at times when the kiddos are being tricky and I could do with another me hanging around. I just have to remind myself that he brings something else to the table….. and that he isn’t a mind reader!!!! ;)

Maybe one day we’ll be able to duplicate ourselves Lucy ;)
