Sometimes you do crazy things for love.
This last weekend of ours was crazy – but we survived because we did it for love.
The love of our business.
Tom has been self employed as a photographer now for 6 years. It’s a fantastic job that he just loves. Having a job you love is worth it’s weight in gold. Since we got married it’s become more of a partnership and we’re able to fill in the gaps for each other. I sort out all our clients and albums and Tom works his magic with the click of a button. We’re a really good team – if I do say so myself. This weekend our team took itself on a 1,115 mile trip.
Our weekend looked something like this:
Because we needed to be in two places in one day for our business
This weekend we drove to Norwich to drop Holly off with her Grandparents and pick up the phoobooth, stayed over night then drove to Reading to meet some new wedding clients. Drove into London to work and do photography at the MAD blog awards, which finished at 11pm. I then drove 5 hours home through the night while Tom slept so he could shoot a wedding in West Yorkshire on the saturday. While Tom went to his wedding I then went to Norwich and back again to pick up Miss Holly.
Maybe! But it’s worth it.
Last year we went to the MAD Blog awards as finalists, which was an incredible experience and although we didn’t win it was an honor to be nominated. This year we returned in different roles. Tom as photographer and me to lend a hand helping to run the event. It was also the perfect chance to try out our new Vintage Photo Booth that Tom’s Dad has built for us from scratch. It s an incredible piece of work and did the job beautifully.
The MADs was the most incredible evening. We got to meet Dr. Ranj, who was presenting the awards. He was a very nice, down to earth guy – and we got to spend time with an incredible group of people who write some amazing blogs. I got to see some of my blogging chums Katie, Lucy and Lucy – whose blogs are beaut! Have a look! Plus there was fabulous food, I rather like food – if you didn’t already know, good food makes a great evening perfect.
I was craving a holiday recently, but now the thought of doing anymore travelling is making me want to pour concrete into all my shoes to keep us at home for a while. A staycation is in order I think!
You just can’t beat a MAD weekend!
