Me & Mine – October

me&mine-button

It’s the end of the tenth month of the year.

Are you ready to welcome in November?

Are you ready for Bonfire Night?

Toffee Apples?

Fireworks?

Sparklers?

Parkin?

What’s that? Oh, you’re a Southerner and you don’t know what on earth Parkin is. Firstly, shame on you. You can’t have bonfire night without Parkin. Secondly, let me direct you to this link right here to explain all your parkin questions, click and the encourage you to visit this link right here for a recipe so you can see what you’re missing out on, click.

Phew.

Now that’s sorted we can move on to our month that was October!

It’s been fabulous. We’ve had a few more delightful Saturdays at home, and we also both took a full week off work to spend time together. After a busy wedding season we decided that we’d have a staycation and catch up on some family time. It was brilliant. We played Badminton, went sightseeing, hit The Deep and The Blackpool Illuminations, what more can you ask for?

October has also brought a lot more Orange and Black into our lives. We helped to organise a ‘Trunk or Treat’ activity at church where each family decorates their car boot and the kids ‘trunk or treat’ rather than ‘trick or treat’. Holly decided she wanted to be an octopus so I made my first halloween outfit. The sewing machine came out and everything – I was rather proud. Tom & I… we went as… well, take a look for yourselves.

Here’s hoping you all have a Parkin filled November!

This month I’m sending you on to the lovely, beautiful and very talented Lucy, who blogs at Dear Beautiful. She’s got two beautiful little ones and her blog is well worth a read. I’m so glad she asked us to be a part of this family portrait project. It’s been so much fun to record how our families have changed each month. Hop over to Lucy’s blog and see her Me & Mine post this month.

I love the Where’s Wally outfits – they’re brilliant! It sounds like your October has been really lovely, and yes, I’m looking forward to bonfire night too; a friend’s parents live in the middle of nowhere with a really big garden and we have an annual tradition of going to their house for a fireworks party. Lots of cake, hot chocolate and some really big bangs, it’s perfect!

You guys make the greatest Wallys!!! Haha. I’m feeling like I definitely need to discover parkin as you mentioned it so many times. I was an honorary northerner for three years and am married to one and I still have no idea what it is. Off to find out….

Oh, and thank-you for saying such lovely things about me and my blog. And thank-you so much for being in this project, it still makes me stupidly proud every month. x

Love these outfits! Love the idea of Trunk Treating too, I have only seen it in America previously. I hope more people gather to do this safer type of trick or treating.
